If you looking for a reliable lightweight commuter, fitness or leisure bike, then you can’t do better than the Studds 100, which comes in a road model (100FB) or a hybrid model (100HY) with thicker tires. There are cheaper bikes on the market, however, you’ll notice that they all use non branded parts especially on the drive chain. From servicing experience, our advice is not to buy a bike with an unbranded chainwheel. We see them coming into our store in Melbourne and upgrade them on a regular basis. Unbranded chainwheels have a tendency to fail at the connection to the square taper. It’s called rounding. Replacements will cost money and effort and just aren’t worth having in our opinion. For this reason, the Studds 100 comes with a full 21 speed Shimano Tourney 500 drive chain. The cassette, shifters, rear derailleur, front derailleur and chainwheel are all Shimano from the same groupset and were designed to run together. It makes a big difference. There are 3 difference standards in the Shimano Tourney range, we use the top standard 500 range, which we have found to be more robust than the lower standards, especially in the brake shifters.
The 100FB comes with 700x23C CST tires with attractive blues stripes. These are perfect for on road use and will be the most efficient choice. Will also find them to be very puncture resistant. However, 23C will limit the variety of riding you can do and are only really suitable for road use. If you are looking for more flexibility then we suggest looking at the 100HY which comes with 32C tires, which are suitable for road and trails. We should also point out that the 2 models use identical components meaning that you can put road bike wheels onto the hybrid model and vice versa. We have had a few customers buy an extra set of wheels for this purpose. If this is something that you’re interested in, please feel free to contact us.
The frame is lightweight aluminium alloy 6061 and has always had great feedback on its teardrop design and comfort, We’ve included 2 sets of drinks holder bolts and rack mounts built into the frame so that you can add a pannier rack without the use of adapters.
It’s simple things that make a difference. For example, we no longer use plastic pedels. They tend to break after a years use and can cause serious injury, therefore all of our bikes come with Wellgo alloy pedels. It’s a really basic thing, but shows that we’re really thinking about the long term use of our bikes.

Size Guide
There's a touch of personal preference when it comes to choosing the right size. Saddle height can be adjusted to suit, so actually the main difference is the reach to the handlebars. If you're finding it difficult to decide between 2 sizes, then a useful tip is if the distance of your wingspan (fingertip to fingertip with outstretched arms) is greater or equal to your height then you should choose the larger size.
